Jerry’s Interment
A shot of the family after Jerry’s interment in Stephen’s City, Virginia.
The family wanted to share just a few of the great stories from Jerry's life, as well as some of the family messages that were read at his service. If you have a story that you'd like to share, please send it to us. We'd love to share your stories with everyone.
It’s hard for me to accept that the memories I have with Papa are all I’m ever going to get.
Stacy read the following poem by Constance Jenkins at Jerry’s Interment:
Growing up, Dad had a … particular … preference for music being played in the house.
Papa’s last job before retiring at the ripe old age of 55 (!) was with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firerarms.
Stacy tells her rabbit story from Hayama, Japan, and her hamster story from Haymarket, Virginia.
No matter the time or setting, Papa never failed to make an impression.
A son’s relationship with his father is a complicated thing. Mere words are inadequate to express fifty-five years of … adoration, respect, awe, joy, frustration, laughter, anger, sympathy, and of course love.
Oh, how he aggravated, frustrated, maddened, and incensed me.
Adjectives describing him that come immediately to mind:
Jerry Walters was my closest and oldest friend. Our friendship goes all the way back to the tenth grade in high school.
UPDATED DECEMBER 2017
Jerry always claimed he started the Vietnam war.
Here are just a few of our favorite photos to remember Jerry.
